Charsi Lamb Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1kg lamb, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated lamb and cook until the meat is browned on all sides.
  5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook for a few more minutes until the tomatoes soften.
  6. Add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency for the curry.
  7. Cover the pan and let the lamb simmer on low heat for about 45-50 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
  8. Once done, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
