Charsi Lamb Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1kg lamb, cut into cubes
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the marinated lamb and cook until the meat is browned on all sides.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook for a few more minutes until the tomatoes soften.
- Add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency for the curry.
- Cover the pan and let the lamb simmer on low heat for about 45-50 minutes, or until the meat is tender.
- Once done, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
